Comments by Megumi Avigail Yoshitomi, ESRP Visiting Researcher at the University of Tokyo Institute for Advanced Study, were published in the Nihon Keizai Shimbun (25/10/2024).

She pointed out that, although cultured meat research in Japan is becoming more active, the lack of rules and regulations is preventing commercialisation, using the expression ‘“double standards” between the government and industry. In response to this situation, she also argued that she and the experts would organise and provide the necessary information to compensate for the lack of national resources.
