Megumi Avigail Yoshitomi, ESRP Visiting Researcher at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo, spoke at the Creativity Seminar 2023 ‘Let’s play with the future of food – the truth and uncertainty of cellular foods’ (01,09,15/09/2023)
Through a basic introductory explanation of cellular foods and their production technology (cellular agriculture), the following three points were lectured on, followed by discussions with participants and tastings of insect foods and plant-based alternative meats.
(i) Introduction to production methods and development status.
(ii) Explanation of the background and feasibility of the possible contribution to food security, reduction of environmental impact of food production, creation of new food culture and protection of food culture,
(iii) Discussion points on rule-making in cellular agriculture.
