Athena Tong is a Visiting Researcher at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, University of Tokyo, having fled Hong Kong in October 2022. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Hong Kong Baptist University and at Sciences Po Paris, and received her Master’s degree from the University of London in 2018, with a focus on Political Communications. Her current research scope includes human rights diplomacy, counter-influence operation, and economic security. She has been involved in political work and human rights advocacy in Hong Kong since 2015.
