RCAST Visiting Researcher Athena Kerin Tong spoke at the symposium ‘The Long Arm of Beijing: A case study of the Hong Kong diaspora and transnational repression’ hosted by Temple University Japan.
The symposium was about Hong Kong diasporic experience in Japan and globally, and how these dynamics play out in light of the human rights repression by the Chinese government of the Hong Kong community in exile, despite the increasing number of people fleeing Hong Kong following the implementation of the National Security Maintenance Law. The discussion was held at the conference.
