Kyodo News featured the international symposium ‘Japan-NATO Symposium 2024: Partnership in Uncertain Times’ organised by ESRP, Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo, on 3 December (07/12/2024).
Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson was quoted as saying that ‘North Korea’s deployment of thousands of combat troops to Russia is a dangerous extension of its continued support to Russia and risks worsening security on the Korean Peninsula’.
Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Member of the House of Representatives Kazuhiro Kobayashi, was also quoted as saying, ‘While recognising that the security of the Euro-Atlantic region and the Indo-Pacific region are inseparable, the Ishiba Cabinet is deeply concerned about the expansion of cooperation between China and Russia and Russia and North Korea’.
Besides that, the results of the 2024 US presidential election and discussions in light of NATO were also quoted.
