The webinar covered three topics of particular interests in recent years: Economic Coercion, Semiconductors, and Advanced Technology.
Akira Igata referred to the recent G7 Hiroshima Summit Outcome Document, “Launching a Coordination Platform against Economic Coercion,” and noted that the G7, EU, IPEF, and Five Eyes all have a strong momentum to address economic coercion. He then highlighted three specific measures that governments are taking: “strengthening supply chains,” “compensating for damage,” and “preparing for retaliatory measures against economic intimidation.”
In addition, Ms. Mari Yamamoto, Director of FRONTEO, introduced a case study of the analysis by FRONTEO’s AI-based economic security measures network analysis system “KIBIT Seizu Analysis ” on the “Example of Shareholder Control by Shaanxi Province, China.” She explained the importance of analyzing the risk that a company which one invests in or partners with is actually under the control of a local or the central government in China, based on the case of a manganese ore company in Brazil and a zinc producer in Canada, which initially appeared to be private companies, but had actually been acquired by the government of Shangxi Province in China.
ESRP will continue to collaborate with FRONTEO in research and public awareness activities related to economic security by combining FRONTEO’s leading AI technology with ESRP’s expertise.
