Comments on the symposium ‘Japan-NATO Symposium 2024: Partnership in uncertain times’ held recently at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo, were published in ‘The Japan Times’ (04/12/2024).
Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson was quoted as saying that ‘Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the growing role of North Korea, China and Iran in it highlights how interconnected the security threats in Europe and Asia are’. It was also noted in the article that ‘Sweden, which is increasing its military spending, is the latest example of European countries seeking to expand security cooperation with partners in the Indo-Pacific region and strengthen their military presence in the region’.
